Local children can train like a professional footballer this summer thanks to an innovative football development programme.
Delivered in partnership with Cuadrilla Resources and Centrica alongside AFC Fylde, Layton Juniors, AFC Blackpool and local Kirkham schools, the programme is a brilliant opportunity for children to better their skills and get an insight football industry from those in the know.
From areas across the Fylde Coast, 20 lucky children will be selected to take part in workshops such as ‘Respect’, ‘Physiotherapy’, ‘Aspirations’ and ‘Diet and Nutrition’ . At the end of the week long training camp the children will be offered the chance to play in a professional football match at Kellamergh Park – the official training base of AFC Fylde.
The football development week will launch with AFC Blackpool on 1st August. The second week will then commence on 8th August with Layton Junior FC and the third week with Kirkham schools on 15th August.
Francis Egan, Cuadrilla’s Chief Executive, said: “We are proud to be working with these three local community football clubs on the Fylde Coast to deliver a fantastic package of physical training and learning opportunities for young people in the local area over the summer. As a keen football fan I’m very much looking forward to seeing the training in action and hearing about the children’s experiences of this great community initiative.”
