Salford City v AFC Fylde
Saturday 4th February, 2017, k/o 3pm
Moor Lane
Vanarama National League North
AFC Fylde travel to Salford City this weekend in a top of the table clash.
The Coasters currently lead the pack in the National League North by nine points whilst Salford sit 12 points behind in third place. Kidderminster Harriers occupy second spot, Chorley are in fourth and Stockport County make up the play-off places.
Fylde bounced back from their third defeat of the league season a fortnight ago at Curzon Ashton with back-to-back home victories over Alfreton Town and Altrincham.
The six goals scored over the course of the last two games brought the Coasters up to an incredible 80 in the league this season – 20 more than any other team in the division (Darlington 60).
Star striker Danny Rowe, who bagged two wonder strikes last time out, has contributed 35 goals to that total and has well over double any other player in the scoring charts.
Salford have an enjoyed a resurgence in form over the last ten games, winning seven and losing just once to propel them up the table into the play-off spots.
The two sides shared the spoils earlier in the season with a dramatic 3-3 draw at Mill Farm.
Sam Finley broke the deadlock early on for the Coasters before Jordan Hulme levelled the scores on the half-hour mark. Salford defender Michael Nottingham put the visitors ahead after the break but Danny Rowe equalised in emphatic fashion. Mike Phenix thought he had won it for the visitors with a late goal, however Steve Williams nodded home deep into added time to earn a hard-fought point.
Team news:
Deadline Day signing Tom Holland is in contention for his first Coasters appearance after joining on loan from Swansea City. Fylde are waiting on the fitness of captain Josh Langley, who has missed the last two games, and James Hardy, who was ruled out of the Altrincham game.
