The final countdown! AFC Fylde host Solihull Moors in the final home game of the National League season with much at stake at both ends of the table.
The Coasters recently gatecrashed the play-offs with four wins on the bounce against Halifax Town, Barrow, Sutton United, Torquay United, however their fine run was halted last weekend at Maidstone United.
The single goal defeat means Fylde are now sixth in the league standings, three points behind Aldershot Town in third and two ahead of Wrexham in eighth.
Victory against old advisories Solihull could potentially secure their play-off place, depending on results elsewhere.
Solihull, on the other hand, have spent the majority of the campaign battling at the wrong end of the table.
A 4-0 thumping in the reverse fixture looked to leave the Moors with an uphill challenge early in the season, however the arrival of manager Mark Yates and his backroom team has seen a remarkable resurgence.
Solihull haven’t lost in eight and have dragged themselves out of the drop zone during that time. Yates’ men have also won three on the bounce, conceding just once in six games and now have a five point cushion between themselves and 21st-placed Woking.
Despite their upturn in form, manager Yates isn’t resting on his laurels just yet: “We’re still not safe, we know that, but if we keep doing what we’re doing then we’re not going to make it easy for anybody to overtake us.”
Two quick-fire goals from Jonny Smith and Danny Rowe on the stroke of half-time put the Coasters firmly in control during the reverse game at the Automated Technology Group Stadium back in October. Second-half goals from Sam Finley and Jack Muldoon sealed the points for the visitors.
