AFC Fylde Community Foundation is launching two new social action programmes for young people in the community, joining the national #IWILL campaign for change.
Working in partnership with Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group and The Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside, AFC Fylde will be launching two new youth social action programmes as part of the #IWILL campaign.
Each programme will be led by the Foundation’s qualified ‘detached’ youth workers. This means that instead of operating from a building, the youth workers go to places where young people tend to be, encouraging far greater involvement and sign-up.
The youth workers will work across Fylde, providing groups of local young people with the opportunity to become more engaged within the community. They will also be carrying out a consultation, identifying local need to help deliver specially developed community improvement projects in the future.
The two programmes in Fylde will be supported financially by Clarion Futures and The Community Foundation for Lancashire. Clarion Futures is providing £10,000 to run the programme and members of staff from their experienced youth team will provide further specialist support. Clarion Futures supports more than 25 community ambassador programmes for young people across the country.
AFC Fylde Foundation Director Tom Hutton commented:
“The Foundation is proud to be joining this fantastic youth social action programme, which is delivered right across Europe. The #IWILL programme is set to be a great success and everyone at AFC Fylde Community Foundation is proud to be getting involved. It’s a unique opportunity for community change which me and my team are really motivated by.”
Marta Rios from Clarion Futures said
“We support ambassador programmes for young people across the country. The benefits of this innovative volunteering programme have been extraordinary for young people and their communities. We are delighted to be working with the AFC Fylde Community Foundation and look forward to seeing the projects grow and succeed.”
