Recap on the action as Chris Beech’s Coasters fell to a disappointing defeat to a clinical Wealdstone side, who took their chances at Mill Farm on Saturday afternoon.
The Coasters kicked off this weekend against Wealdstone looking for their first win in three.
At a cold and windy Mill Farm, both sides enjoyed good spells on the ball just with no end product to reward either side.
Nick Haughton tested Marcus Dewhurst from range however it caused no problem for the Stones keeper.
The Stones then took the lead in the eighth minute through Dillon De Silva. Good work from Max Kretzschmar led the ball to De Silva who expertly finished into the bottom corner giving the away side the lead.
In a half where chances were few and far between the Coasters did manage to create a few within a short period of time. A Danny Ormerod shot from range tested Dewhurst once again who spilled the shot however nobody was on the rebound for the Coasters.
Ormerod was involved once again in the sixteenth minute unlucky not to score but Dewhurst was once again the man in his way. Josh Kay also tested Dewhurst quickly after as the Coasters built up pressure looking for an equaliser.
Despite dominating large amounts of possession the Coasters didn’t look a major threat to the Stones goal with Danny Ormerod once again being the main man in looking for an equaliser, unfortunately firing over in the twenty-sixth minute.
As the game drew closer to half-time both teams enjoyed large spells of the ball, but neither keeper was tested and the score remained 0-1 going into half-time.
As the teams returned for the second half, the Coasters took control of the game and dominated large amounts of the ball creating chances through Nick Haughton but unfortunately not finishing their chances.
However, the breakthrough came in the fifty-eighth minute through Haughton after a great run from Connor Barrett gave the Coasters the lead through a brilliant flick.
As the Coasters piled on pressure, the Stones keeper proved a greater match denying Josh Kay on multiple occasions aswell as Haughton once again.
On the sixty-third minute the Stones took the lead through Manny Duku who expertly finished in the top corner.
The Coasters piled on the pressure bringing on Joe Westley and Ash Hunter to add a different attacking edge however they couldn’t make the difference as Wealdstone headed back down south with all 3 points, despite a great effort from the Coasters.
