AFC Fylde are delighted to announce the loan signing of Jamaican international Tyler Roberts from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The winger joins the Coasters from the Premier League side and will be eligible for tomorrow’s game with Southend United after joining on a loan which runs until January 31st.
A product of the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy, the Jamaican has worked his way through the club’s system and earned EFL experience whilst on loan at Sky Bet League Two side Doncaster Rovers last year.
During his time in Yorkshire, Roberts featured in 15 games and gained valuable experience as Rovers made a late surge for the League Two play-offs.
Speaking after joining the Coasters, Roberts said: “I’m really excited for the challenge ahead. I’m excited for the challenge to hopefully get some games and some goals under my belt.
“I’ve been at Wolves for around 13 years so a long time and it’s good to get out and have new experiences. The coaching throughout has been great and has made me the player I am today.
“I’ve had a few experiences with the Jamaican national team and I’ve loved it every time I’ve been over there. It’s a beautiful place with a very family orientated type of team with everyone together which makes it really enjoyable.
“Fylde has been great since I’ve been here. The lads have been really welcoming and the gaffer has looked after me as well so it’s just made me more excited for the challenge.”
Head Coach Chris Beech also added: “We’re really pleased to add Tyler to the squad.
“Tyler adds a different dynamic to our side. He adds amazing pace and loves driving at defenders, asking questions of his opponents which is exactly what we we’re looking to add to the squad.
“We’re very thankful to Steve Davis (Harry Davis’ Dad), and Wolves, an established Premier League side, who are trusting us with one of their talents and we hope his time at Mill Farm can prove beneficial for both parties.
“We are still looking to process our performances and take opportunities to be a competitive squad. With a couple of more additions, I think we’ll have the balance across all areas of the pitch to be a competitive force in this division.”
“I wish Tyler all the best during his spell with us and hope he gets the most out of his time here at Mill Farm.”
