AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor was delighted with his side’s display in the 3-1 defeat at Millwall.
The Coasters’ FA Cup dream came to cruel end at The Den on Saturday, but Challinor believes there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
“Saturday was a great occasion and one that hopefully everyone enjoyed,” said Chally. “It was a mixed dressing room afterwards, as there was the obvious disappointment of losing. But to receive the ovation we did from the Millwall fans was a big boost for the players and it highlighted how well we had performed.
“Clinical finishing was probably the difference. I thought Aiden O’Brien changed the game when he came on at half-time and he was involved in all three of their goals.
“I’m disappointed because I naturally have high expectations for us and the goals weren’t great from our point of view.
“However, looking at the bigger picture, we did really well. We kept plugging away, even at 2-0 and managed to get ourselves back in to the game.
“We needed to be at the top of our game, hope Millwall were not at their best and get that little bit of luck. We didn’t get that luck but we are still extremely proud of the lads. The lads have to use this as inspiration if they are aiming to play at the level week in week out.
“We will use this to drive us on towards promotion this season. We are on a great run and we need to continue that.”
