We’re delighted to announce Dan Adshead will remain at AFC Fylde for the rest of the season after an initial short-term loan until the end of January.
Dan made his Coasters debut from the bench in our 2-1 defeat at Altrincham before starting in the eleven the following weekend when Chris Beech’s side hosted Dagenham & Redbridge.
The midfielder joined AFC Fylde on loan from Sky Bet League One side Cheltenham Town, signing initially on a short-term loan until the end of January, Dan linked up with Chris Beech again after making his debut under the Coasters’ Director of Football/Head Coach, aged 16, at Rochdale AFC.
After joining the Greater Manchester side at the age of eight, Adshead signed his first professional contract in 2018 before earning several caps with England U18s two months later, scoring on his debut against the Netherlands.
Impressive performances in the Football League at a young age saw the Manchester-born lad join Norwich City for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2019.
From Carrow Road, the 22-year-old had loan spells at SC Telstar and Gillingham before being snapped up by Cheltenham for an undisclosed fee, where he has gone on to make 23 appearances.
Speaking on the deal, Head Coach Chris Beech commented, “Dan is a great professional with high standards.
“Not only to his football but how he prepares to be at his best including his recovery from the bad tackle he had against Hartlepool.
“He is nearing fitness and looking to help us for the rest of the season with 17 games to play by agreeing to commit until the end of the season.
“For that, I thank him as he looks to return to the team and provide us with extra football competence.
“We appreciate we all work hard to secure deals that make us both better on the pitch and financially viable and for that we all appreciate DH support and I’d like to thank Russ Milton at Cheltenham for doing his bit and making this a seamless transaction between the clubs.”
