The AFC Fylde Community Foundation, over the past couple of months, have developed a number of new and exciting partnerships with local friendship and support groups, throughout Preston, Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde.
These partnerships allow The Foundation to work closely with a number of local groups who support vulnerable and isolated residents, providing unique and stimulating opportunities, providing specialist opportunities for all to participate in.
Over the past nine months, working in partnership with locally based friendship group, Just Good Friends, The AFC Fylde Community Foundation have provided Fylde Coast residents over the age of 50 with the opportunity to take part in a range of light exercise and stimulating classes.
Since the formation of this fantastic partnership, The AFC Fylde Community Foundation have engaged with 946 Fylde Coast residents over the age of 50, providing free activities such as; led walks, indoor bowls, chair based exercises classes, YOGA based activities and indoor darts.

In addition to providing the above weekly community activity sessions, The Foundation’s health and wellbeing team also delivery a number of weekly residential care home exercises classes. These sessions are delivered within the residential care setting, and provide participants who are less able to attend community based activities with the opportunity to take part in equal access opportunity sessions within their residential home facility.
Both the community based sessions and residential home sessions have been branded a fantastic success with participants demonstrating increased physical capabilities and mental capability, using physical activity as a vehicle to improve participant’s lives.
