AFC Fylde can confirm that prior to last night’s deadline for EFL Clubs to complete their transfer business, the club rejected a significant six-figure bid for midfielder Taelor O’Kane.

The 19-year-old, who recently signed a two-year extension to his original deal, has come through the ranks at the academy and is one of a number of players to come through the ranks into our first team at Mill Farm.

The teen made 19 starts last season scoring four goals including a brace against Halifax Town and has since made a further four appearances this campaign including starting the last game against Wealdstone.

Speaking on the bid, Director of Football Alex Hughes said: “We are pleased to see clubs in higher divisions taking note of our club’s successes.

“Taelor has undoubted potential, and we believe he will soon be a regular member of the first team and has a great future ahead of him.

“He remains central to our future plans and the decision to reject the bid by the Chairman was made without hesitation.”
