AFC Fylde Head Coach Chris Beech praised an “excellent” winning performance from his side in a 3-1 victory away at York City in the Vanarama National League on Tuesday night.
Goals from Joe Westley, Ash Hunter and Jon Ustabasi earned three points at the LNER Community Stadium to secure back-to-back wins.
And Beech was delighted with the display at York, and the determination from the Coasters men.
Beech said: “It was excellent. We backed up scoring four great goals on Saturday at Mill Farm with another three at York’s ground.
“The way the lads played with their discipline off the ball is something I’ve tried to teach them since I took over, and it was a great example of staying in shape and playing under pressure. We were very comfortable for us, I was very pleased with how we counter attacked and scored great goals.
“We’ve grown in confidence and belief, and to back up Saturday’s performance, I knew it would suit our faster players, Joe Westley was excellent, he put a great shift in, as did all of the lads. Ash has looked sharp lately in training and he came on and did it when it mattered, and the last one was a counter attack through speed.
“We had 18 shots away at York which is really good, it was a lot more than they had. Their goal is a little bit disappointing as we have been excellent at defending corners, it’s something that Andy Taylor did with his zonal marking.”
Beech also praised the support of the 90 travelling Coasters support who backed the lads superbly all game.
He added: “Everyone likes to be associated with good things, we’ve got a team that score goals, more resilient and harder to play against and the lads have been right at it, so the fans are joining us and I really appreciate that.”
