There’s just two weeks to go until the season opener against Brackley Town at Kellamergh Park and pre-season is in full swing and after two wins and two defeats for The Coasters.
Dave Challinor will be hoping his side can maintain their 100% away record when they visit Curzon Ashton this Saturday in their latest pre-season outing.
Fylde side have scored nine goals in two away games already this summer thanks to comfortable victories over Kendal Town and Nelson but this will certainly be their toughest test so far when they take on last season’s Evo-Stik Division One North Champions at Tameside.
However, John Flanagan’s side have struggled in their opening friendlies losing all three. They suffered narrow defeats to lower league opposition in Atherton Collieries and Cammell Laird, 2-1 and 4-3 respectively, but they fell to an 8-1 defeat at home in their first game to an Oldham Athletic XI.
But Curzon will feel this game provides them with an ideal opportunity to test themselves against a side that played in the league they are about to compete in this season.
Having had no football in mid-week, Challinor will have put his players through their paces in training aiming to get the lads up to full fitness and will again take as many first teamers as possible to Tameside.
The match kicks off at 3pm so come along and keep your support going for the lads ahead of the new campaign. Admission is just £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions so it’s another great reason to spend a Saturday afternoon at the football.
