AFC Fylde Community Foundation has launched an innovative programme of health and wellbeing workshops thanks to partnership support.
Working collaboratively with Rustlers, the Foundation has been hard at work, helping to make the Fylde Coast a healthier place to live, work and play.
The dedicated Community Foundation team has been delivering extensive physical activity and healthy eating workshops across the region. Most recently, they have been supporting Pear Tree School in Kirkham.
Pear Tree is a renowned specialist school in physical and sensory development for pupils aged between 2 – 19 years of age. The Foundation organised a specially adapted workshop focusing on physical activities geared towards supporting the less able bodied. The fun and fact packed sessions also included the importance of maintaining a balanced diet.
Foundation Director Tom Hutton says it is a priority for the Foundation to deliver programmes in the community that are inclusive. He said: “We work incredibly hard to ensure that children and young people can get involved irrespective of age or ability. We take enormous pride in being able to deliver our health and physical activity workshops across the Fylde Coast.
“They are educational but enjoyable so everyone leaves having had a great time but far better informed. Our sessions at Pear Tree School were fantastic. The pupils really enjoyed it and my team came away inspired.”
“The support of local partners such as Rustlers is crucial to enable us to develop and deliver community programmes such as this. So, I’d like to give my thanks to them and to the other organisations who support us. By working together, we can build and strengthen our local communities so everyone benefits.”
