AFC Fylde are recruiting for a Head of Medical to join the team at the Football Club.

The Head of Medical (HoM) will take the reins and drive excellence in player care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. If you are passionate about football and possess outstanding leadership qualities, this role is tailor-made for you!

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Injury Prevention Strategies:

 

Conduct an annual injury audit, analysing various injury metrics.

Implement cutting-edge injury prevention strategies based on audit results.

Administer annual screening and physical testing for first team players.

Develop and manage ongoing injury management plans for players with a history of injuries.

Collaborate closely with coaching and sports science staff on player load management.

 

Injury management

 

Provide accurate diagnosis and prognosis for injured players.

Develop and oversee comprehensive rehabilitation plans with clear progress markers.

Keep stakeholders informed with daily and weekly updates on injured players’ status.

Arrange specialist appointments and investigations when required.

Deliver high-quality treatment and rehabilitation sessions.

 

Daily management of fit players

 

Provide daily maintenance treatment and strappings for fit players.

Design and implement recovery strategies for fit players.

Supervise soft tissue provision for all first team players.

Maintain discipline in the club’s Medical Room and monitor wellbeing surveys.

 

Matchday duties

 

Offer pitch-side first aid cover for all first team games.

Prepare and manage medical equipment for both home and away games.

Facilitate Emergency Action Plan (EAP) meetings and ensure EAP availability.

Conduct debriefs and reflection sessions post-match.

Uphold Health & Safety regulations.

 

Miscellaneous tasks

 

Monitor player availability and participate in daily staff meetings.

Ensure an adequate supply of medical consumables.

Foster relationships with club partners.

Assist in the development of first team sports therapist and sports scientist.

Maintain a clean and operational medical room. Expectations From the Post Holder
