AFC Fylde is delighted to announce that right-back Kieran Lloyd has joined the Club on a one-month loan deal.
Kieran joins the Coasters from Wigan Athletic, where he signed his first professional contract in the summer, and he links up with Jim Bentley’s side ahead of tomorrow’s National League North clash against Spennymoor Town.
Lloyd is an athletic full-back, who likes to get forward and join in attacks. He was recruited by Latics in January 2019, having previously been at Liverpool FC’s academy since the age of eight.
The 19-year-old has featured for Leam Richardson’s side four times this season and made his first-team debut in Wigan’s 8-7 penalty shootout win against Hull City in the Carabao Cup before then making his first start against Wolverhampton U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.
He was also a standout performer in the Under 18s side that retained the Professional Development League North title and became the Professional Development League National Champions against Charlton Athletic in May.
On Lloyd’s arrival, Coasters boss Jim Bentley said: “The right-back position has been a problem area for us with the injuries to Luke Burke and Dan Pike, so Kieran coming in is a positive move for us.
“He has played first-team football at Wigan this season – he is well thought of there and comes highly recommended. We are looking forward to working with Kieran, and we hope it is a positive loan period for us and him.”
Kieran will wear the number 27 shirt at Mill Farm and is available for tomorrow night’s fixture against Spennymoor Town.
