AFC Fylde hit the road for the first time in pre-season tomorrow with a trip into Wales to face Airbus UK.
The Coasters have won both of their pre-season games so far with 1-0 wins against League One sides Fleetwood Town and Rochdale. It’s been a positive start by Dave Challinor’s men and they’ll certainly be looking to continue that tomorrow against an Airbus side who have already played European football this season.
The win over local rivals Fleetwood Town in the first game of pre-season for Fylde was thanks to a solitary goal from last season’s Young Player of the Season Dion Charles, while the only goal of the game when The Coasters faced Rochdale last Sunday was scored by Richie Allen from the penalty spot.
Fylde should have all of the players who played against Fleetwood and Rochdale available for this game, and Josh Langley could also be available after missing both matches. Club captain Bradley Barnes could also feature after returning from holiday. After getting off to the perfect start against Fleetwood and Rochdale, The Coasters will be looking to make it three victories out of three in pre-season.
The Wingmakers faced Lokomotiv Zagreb in the Europa League Qualifiers earlier this month but unfortunately for them, they were beaten 3-1 at home, although they managed to draw 2-2 in Croatia which was very respectable. More recently, they hosted Stockport County in a friendly on Tuesday night which ended 2-1 to the home side.
Previous to the Europa League Qualifiers, Airbus defeated Newtown and Flint Town United before losing 3-2 to Crusaders of Northern Ireland. Airbus were Welsh Premier League runners up in both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 season.
The address for Airbus UK Broughton’s ‘Hollingsworth Group Stadium’ is:
The Airfield,
Chester Road,
Broughton, Flintshire, CH4 0DR
The match will kick off at 3pm .
Admission is £5.
AFC Fylde’s Youth team are also in action against Airbus with the game kicking off at 12 noon and supporters are welcome to watch both games.
Your support away from home was exceptional last season and we’d love to see that support continue on Saturday by seeing as many Coasters fans in Wales as possible!
