It’s a return to Mill Farm action for AFC Fylde who face a clash against Aldershot Town in the Vanarama National League this Saturday.

The Coasters will be looking to get back to winning ways against the Shots after not winning since their clash with Southend United in mid-September.

But with back-to-back home games now on the schedule due to a home FA Cup draw, Nathan Delfouneso and Chris Neal will be looking for a positive home performance as they continue to take temporary charge.

Aldershot make the long journey up North off the back of five games without victory, a run which includes draws at Ebbsfleet, Boston United and York City.

But after recording impressive wins earlier in the season against the likes of Oldham and Halifax, the Shots will be arriving at Mill Farm ready to provide a challenge to the home side.

Opposition Dugout: Tommy Widdrington

In the opposing dugout this afternoon is former Southampton and Port Vale man Tommy Widdrington. The ex-midfielder is well experienced in both his playing and management career having played over 400 games before being in the dugout since 2009.

Starting out at Southampton where he made his debut, the Newcastle-born midfielder would go on to spend six years at St Mary’s before moving onto Grimsby Town.

From that move on, Widdrington stayed relatively North during his playing days, sporting the jersey of the likes of Grimsby, Port Vale, Hartlepool and Macclesfield Town.

After spending the final five years of his career at Salisbury City, the 52-year-old then moved into management with Salisbury.

A further five years followed in charge of Eastbourne Borough before taking caretaker charge at Bristol Rovers.

After returning to full-time management in 2021 with Kings Lynn, he spent two years there before taking over the Aldershot gig in April 2023.

One to Watch: James Henry

A winger with a whole host of EFL experience, James Henry joined Aldershot this summer and has made an instant impact, scoring five times already this season.

After coming through at Reading back in 2006, Henry endured a number of loan spells at the likes of Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Millwall before signing for the latter permanently in 2010.

After spending four years at the Den and making over 100 appearance for the Lions, Henry moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers where he spent a further three years, making over 100 appearances again at Molineux.

Continuing his trend of remaining at clubs for lengthy periods of time, his next move saw the start of an seven-year stint at Oxford United where he was part of the side recently promoted to the Championship.

In August, he joined National League side Aldershot and won the league’s player of the month award for August in what was an impressive start in Hampshire.
