It’s the second of back-to-back away games for AFC Fylde as we travel to the Jakemans Community Stadium to face Boston United.

The Coasters make the long trip down to Lincolnshire on Wednesday night after facing Dagenham & Redbridge in East London on Saturday.

Kevin Phillips’ side will be looking for a reaction after a disappointing result at the weekend in East London, falling to a 4-0 defeat.

Boston are too down towards the wrong end of the National League table along with the Coasters, having won just two of their opening 14 Vanarama National League games.

The Coasters have had a favourable record against the Pilgrims over the past few years, winning 10 of the previous 13 meetings between the two sides including a 9-2 win all the way back in 2016.

Opposition Dugout: Ian Culverhouse

Opposite Kevin Phillips on Wednesday evening will be former Norwich City Defender Ian Culverhouse.

Having started his career at Tottenham Hotspur in the early 1980’s, Culverhouse earned a taste of early success after being a part of the Spurs squad who won the 1983/84 UEFA Cup, before he made the switch to Carrow Road after being signed for £50,000.

He earnt promotion in his first season at Norwich, playing 30 games in a season which saw him win promotion from the Second Division.

After nine years in Norfolk, Culverhouse moved to Swindon Town before ending his career at Brighton and Hove Albion where he retired in 2000.

In 2017, Culverhouse was appointed Manager of Southern League Premier Division side King’s Lynn Town. He led the club to a second-placed finish, before falling short in the play off final before he moved onto Grantham Town in May 2018.

A return to King’s Lynn then followed where he earned a second-successive promotion in 2020 after the season was curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the league was decided on a points per-game basis, leaving King’s Lynn as Champions.

In September 2022, Culverhouse was appointed manager of Boston United following the sacking of Paul Cox.

One to Watch: Jacob Hazel

With plenty of experience amongst Non League, Hazel has featured for plenty of sides including the likes of Darlington, Chesterfield and FC United.

Starting out at Chesterfield in 2012, Hazel spent plenty of time out on loan at the likes of Matlock, Workington, Buxton and Bradford Park Avenue before joining FC United of Manchester.

He has since spent time at the likes of Farsley Celtic, Gainsborough Trinity and Scarborough before he left Darlington to join Boston in 2023.

So far this campaign, Hazel is the current top scorer for Boston with seven goal contributions (five goals and two assists) .
