AFC Fylde Women make their way to Mickleover on Sunday to face Derby County Women in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.
This away fixture will be played at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday 24th March, with kick-off at 2.00 pm.
The Coasters will be looking to build on the positives of recent performances when they lock horns with the Ewe Rams this weekend.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash, Jake Williams’s and Steve Mainwaring’s Fylde team have been working hard on the training pitch in a bid to turn their fortunes around.
A fortnight ago, the Coasters made their long-awaited return to competitive action when they hosted Stoke City Women at Kellamergh Park. Roisin Kivel put the visitors ahead midway through the first half, before Sasha Rowe equalised for Fylde shortly after the interval.
With full-time approaching, the Potters managed to regain the lead as Mia Leath grabbed a second to secure a 2-1 victory. That late setback denied Fylde the opportunity to earn a point that their efforts more than deserved.
However, the Coasters remain upbeat and determined to respond in the right way as they prepare for this weekend’s trip to Derbyshire.
Samantha Griffiths’s Ewe Rams will be aiming for a strong finish to the season as they also look to bounce back from defeat at the hands of Stoke City last time out.
First-half goals from Heidi Logan and Saffron Jordan set the Potters on their way to a convincing 2-0 win at Emerys Stadium in Norton. That midweek result left Derby County eighth in the table, having collected 19 points from 16 games played.
Meanwhile, the Ewe Rams recently booked their place in the final of the FAWNL Plate, where they will meet Cambridge United Women at Broadhurst Park on 21st April. Griffiths’s team can now look forward to what promises to be a special occasion for the club.
But before then, the Coasters will be hoping to get the better of their hosts when they meet in the league this Sunday afternoon.
