AFC Fylde will look to make it three away wins in a row this weekend as they travel to the North East to face Gateshead in the 5:30pm Kick Off.
The game has been chosen for enhanced coverage by Dazn, hence the later kick off at the Gateshead International Stadium.
Fylde have been successful on their last two outings on the road, picking up maximum points at Halifax Town and Altrincham.
Goals from Nick Haughton and Gavin Massey earnt David Longwell and Chris Neal’s side all three points last time out in Greater Manchester as Fylde will look for their first back-to-back wins of the season.
The Coasters will also be looking for a league double over the Heed after earning a 3-0 win over Carl Magnay’s side back in November. Goals from Tyler Roberts, Gavin Massey and Nick Haughton proved the difference on that occasion.
Opposition Dugout: Carl Magnay
Born in Gateshead, Magnay is no stranger to the side in which he took over in October, replacing Rob Elliot.
The former defender played well over 75 games for the Heed over two spells as a player before taking charge of the side in October following Rob Elliot’s departure for Sky Bet League One side Crawley Town.
It’s the 35 year old’s first managerial role after spending large parts of his playing career in the north east, featuring for the likes of Hartlepool, Grimsby and Spennymoor Town.
One to watch: Luke Hannant
The midfielder returned to Gateshead in August 2023 having signed a two-year deal, prior to playing 45 times for the Heed in an initial spell between 2016 and 2018.
After his first spell at the club, Hannant then picked up football league experience with the likes of Port Vale, Cambridge United and Colchester United.
After returning to the North East for the 2023/24 season, Hannant made a big impact for the Heed, featuring in 50 games across all competitions and ending the campaign as the club’s second top goal scorer with 11 goals as well as helping his side to lift the FA Trophy at Wembley.
So far this season, Hannant has 13 goals and eight assists in his 31 National League appearances.
