AFC Fylde kick off 2025 with a trip over the Pennines to face Halifax Town at the Shay Stadium.

The Coasters will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last two outings against Solihull Moors and Rochdale respectively.

It’s the first meeting between the two sides this season with the teams playing out a 2-2 draw last campaign after Taelor O’Kane scored a brace at the Shay.

Opposing Dugout: Chris Millington

Entering his sixth year with Halifax, Millington joined the Shaymen in 2019 as right-hand man to former Manager Pete Wild.

His coaching career began with Altrincham’s under 18’s before working at Stockport County’s Centre of Excellence.

He then briefly worked abroad in Croatia before joining up with Pete Wild at Oldham. The two had met studying for their A-Licence and stayed in touch.

But following Wild’s departure after three years at the Shay Stadium, Millington took the reins after he was appointed First Team Manager.

One to watch: Billy Waters

Waters joined Halifax in July 2021, after being released by Torquay United at the end of the last season – he scored six goals in 26 league games.

Waters began his career with Crewe Alexandra, signing a professional contract in 2013, but it was in 2015 and a move to Cheltenham where kick started his career.

The striker scored 23 league goals in 83 league matches for Cheltenham, before a move to League One Northampton Town – spending three seasons with the Cobblers.

Waters has also had loan spells with Cambridge United, a second stint with Cheltenham, and Newport County whilst with Northampton.
