For only the second time this season, AFC Fylde are in search of back-to-back wins when they face Woking at Mill Farm this Saturday.

Jon Ustabasi’s header and a late screamer from Nick Haughton proved the difference last time out as the Coasters ran out 2-1 winners against Southend United.

It was only the second win of the season but certainly created a sense of needed optimism as the team, which is currently being led by Chris Neal and Nathan Delfouneso, head into the second of three consecutive home games.

Opposition Dugout: Michael Doyle

the Irishman was appointed as manager in December 2023.

The Dubliner started his playing career at Celtic, coming through the youth system to turn professional prior to signing for Coventry City in 2003 following a loan spell at AGF Aarhus.

Doyle would remain a Sky Blues player for a further eight-years during his first stint in the West Midlands – making 297 appearances in all competitions as the club competed in the Championship – as well as being loaned to Leeds United for the 2009/10 campaign as the Whites were promoted from League One under Simon Grayson.

In January 2011, Doyle signed a permanent deal at Sheffield United and he would make over 200 appearances in over four-years as a Blade, where he was also club captain.

Following his departure from Bramall Lane in the summer of 2015, Doyle penned a contract with Portsmouth, winning a second promotion when he captained Pompey to the League Two title at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

After 90 appearances for Portsmouth, Doyle returned to Coventry in 2017 as he added a further 76 games under his belt – winning promotion in his first term back with in Sky Blue through the League Two play-offs in May 2018.

Ending his career with a four-year stay at Notts County, Doyle finished his time in a player/assistant manager position at Meadow Lane.

Along with his 843-game club career, Doyle won caps at senior and youth team level with the Republic of Ireland.

Moving into coaching, Doyle held roles at Forest Green Rovers and Portsmouth prior to the 43-year-old being named as Woking manager last December.

One to watch: Lewis Walker

Lewis Walker returned to Woking in January 2024 on a permanent deal after signing an 18-month contract.

Early on in his career, Walker represented Ilkeston, Derby County, Darlington, Queens Park Rangers and Aldershot Town.

In September 2020, Walker moved to Como 1907 following a successful trial at the Italian club – making 20 appearances in their title-winning Serie C season – as well as a further 26 appearances and four goals for Athletic Carpi.

Walker, now 25, left Italian football behind and signed for Gillingham, spending two campaigns at Priestfield, ahead of a loan at Woking which was made permanent at the turn of the New Year.
