It was a disappointing defeat for AFC Fylde as they couldn’t build on the midweek win over Boston, losing 5-0 against Altrincham at Mill Farm.
A first half hat-trick from Regan Linney and second half strikes from Alex Newby and Elliot Osborne proved the difference in the late Saturday kick off.
Regan Linney opened the scoring in the fifth minute giving Altrincham an early lead, a strike from the outside of the box beating Theo Richardson.
A second for the visitors came within 10 minutes as they doubled their lead with another strike from outside the box by Regan Linney, identical to his first effort.
A headed attempt from Alex Newby was saved from close range by Richardson to deny a third, before a curled effort from Tyler Roberts went over the bar.
The Robins added a third just before half time as Linney completed a first-half hat-trick, tapping home a dragged effort which fell kindly for the striker to claim his third.
In the second half, Corey Whelan tired his luck with a half volley but his effort ricocheted off an Altrincham defender.
The visitor’s soon found a fourth as Alex Newby got in on the act, getting in behind and lobbing Richardson in front of the away end.
And there was time for a fifth late on as substitute Elliot Osborne stole the ball deep in the final third and slotted the ball into the far corner.
Next up for the Coasters will be back at Mill Farm as they take on Gateshead on November 9th.
