AFC Fylde fell to defeat at Mill Farm against Boston United thanks to a brace from Jacob Hazel.
Nick Haughton pulled one back for the Coasters but Kevin Phillips’ side couldn’t make their second half pressure count.
The visitors started off strongly and Jacob Hazel hit the upright within the opening 30 seconds.
And after his first effort was inches away from opening the scoring, Hazel did break the deadlock inside 15 minutes as he slotted past Ben Winterbottom.
Ten minutes later, Hazel bagged his second of the game after a cross from the left was converted by the Boston forward, leaving Fylde with a mountain to climb.
Fylde had a couple of half chances with Charlie Jolley going close with a header as the half drew to a close.
But with five minutes to play, Fylde were handed a lifeline when Jolley latched onto a loose header and was wiped out by the Boston ‘keeper, leaving the Coasters with a spot kick.
Nick Haughton made no mistake from 12 yards as Fylde reduced the deficit to one heading into the half time interval.
Kevin Phillips made a change at the break as Kain Adom was introduced for his debut, replacing Tyler Roberts on the right-hand side.
Adom looked bright when cutting in as he created a half chance for Nick Haughton which deflected wide.
But Fylde failed to create any clear-cut opportunities as Boston took all three points in the big clash down at the bottom end of the National League table.
