It was another defeat on the road for AFC Fylde as they fell to a 3-0 defeat away at York City.

Goals from Marvin Armstrong, Lenell John-Lewis and Callum Harriott proved the difference as the Coasters played with ten men for over 45 minutes.

It was a strong start from the Coasters who pressed the York defence and forced them long on multiple occasions.

Gavin Massey was causing plenty of headaches for the York defence, linking up with Haughton and Mitchell to create chance after chance.

Haughton went close on two occasions in the opening stages, first seeing a shot deflect off Offrande Zanzala which forced Harrison Male into a great save down low. Haughton then almost turned creator when he linked up with Ethan Mitchell to get to the byline and his cross which would’ve given Joe Riley a tap-in, was well cut out by the home side.

York did have plenty of the ball and could have opened the scoring themselves when Fagan-Walcott got in behind but the centre half sliced his header wide of Winterbottom’s post.

As the game struggled to flow with free-kicks given for the home side particularly, Harry Davis saw straight red from referee Thomas Parsons for what was deemed a dangerous tackle.

The first half drew to a close with the Coasters forced into a change of shape following the late sending off.

Within five minutes of the second half, the host’s took advantage of their extra man and broke the deadlock through Marvin Armstrong. Nathaniel-George broke the offside trap and his cross deflected off Corey Whelan before being fired past Ben Winterbottom from just yards-out to give York the lead.

It could have been two almost immediately after the restart as Aguiar looked to pull the trigger but his effort was well charged down by substitute Taelor O’Kane.

Chris Beech made a double substitution, introducing Danny Ormerod and Charlie Jolley as the Coasters began to see more of the ball and create chances again.

Ustabasi put in a dangerous cross which was cleared for a corner and from the resulting set-piece, Charlie Jolley had a chance to equalise but headed over.

But Beech’s men were made to rue the missed opportunity as the home side broke away in devastating fashion as Akinyemi cut back for Lenell John-Lewis who finished clinically to double the hosts’ lead.

Ben Winterbottom prevented a third soon after as Callum Harriott struck with the outside of his boot from the edge of the area which the Brentford loanee met with a strong hand.

But there was a third just a minute from time as Harriott got in behind and struck past Winterbottom with a calm and collected finish into the bottom corner.

It was a spirited effort from the ten-men Coasters but Fylde failed to mount a comeback as the scoreline ended in a 3-0 defeat.
