Danny Rowe, AFC Fylde’s all time leading goal scorer, has today been placed on the transfer list at his own request.
The player, who has six months left to run on his existing contract, had been in discussions with Jim Bentley regarding his future commitment to the club, as Jim tries to put together a squad that is ready to challenge for promotion next season.
Danny made it clear that whatever happens he wants to move on in the summer, so the manager felt it better this happened sooner rather than later.
Commenting on the situation Club Chairman David Haythornthwaite said, “I’m bitterly disappointed Danny wants to move on, as I had hoped he would see out his career with us.
“However, it looks like that’s not going to happen now as Danny has had his head turned by his agent and believes he can play at a much higher level.”
“We, therefore, reluctantly agreed to honour his request and subject of course to receiving the right offer, will allow him to move.”
“I’m sure many of our fans will be disappointed as Danny had gained almost legendary status with the club, but this is football and we must move on.”
The club will be making no further comment at this time.
