AFC Fylde v Nuneaton Town

Saturday 15th October, 2016, k/o 3pm

Mill Farm

Vanarama National League North

AFC Fylde head into this weekend’s match against Nuneaton Town four points clear at the top of the National League North table.

The Coasters established their four-point cushion with a last minute winner against Stockport County and a hard-fought point in the highly-entertaining 3-3 draw against Kidderminster Harriers.

The goals have continued to flow for Dave Challinor’s unbeaten side and their impressive tally of 40 in 13 games trumps any other club in the top six tiers of English Football. Top scorer Danny Rowe’s record of 19 goals is also unrivalled.

However, the goals against column is higher than Challinor would like, with the Coasters already conceding on 20 occasions in the league this term.

Nuneaton have conceded the same number of goals but have only notched the same figure at the other end of the pitch in what has been a disappointing start to the campaign.

Boro had their sights set on a play-off push after narrowly missing out last season, however just three victories from 13 matches sees them sit in 15th place in the table.

Last season’s starman Elliott Whitehouse has been one shining light this season, with five goals to his name.

The two sides shared the spoils in both fixtures last season, with a 1-1 at Liberty Way before Nuneaton snatched a late goal in a 2-2 draw at Kellamergh Park in March.

Manager’s view, Dave Challinor:
“There have been plenty of surprise results already this season, as was the case last weekend, because we ended up a point better off at the top of the league without even winning our game.

“If we can take all six points from these next two homes games then that would be fantastic but I’m not naive enough to think that’s a given.

“We have to work our socks off because we know teams coming to our place have been inspired and have upped their game in such fantastic surroundings and we will have to deal with that again .”

Team news:
Brendon Daniels is hoping to be involved in the squad, as are Caspar Hughes and Dan Bradley, who both missed the trip to Kidderminster. Steve Williams will have a late fitness check on a foot problem.
