AFC Fylde vs Wrexham

Vanarama National League
AFC Fylde welcome Wrexham back to Mill Farm this evening for the second time in the space of ten days.
The Welsh side made the trip up earlier in the month for the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
A solitary strike from top scorer Danny Rowe was enough to earn the Coasters a place in the first round of the prestigious competition for the fourth time.
Fylde were on course to secure back-to-back victories at the weekend when goals from Sam Finley and Jack Muldoon, either side of Joe Pigott’s strike, gave the Coasters a half-time lead against Maidstone United in the National League.
However, downpours of biblical proportions left referee Marc Edwards with little option but to abandon the match three minutes into the second period. A new date for the match will be announced in due course.
Dave Challinor’s side now have a game in hand on the majority of the pack and sit in 19th in the table with a record of three wins, seven draws and five defeats from the opening 15 games.
Striker Rowe remains the club’s leading goalscorer in Fylde’s debut season in the fifth tier of English football. His FA Cup winner was his seventh of the season in all competitions. The forward is just three behind league front runner Bruno Andrade, who now has nine including two penalties.
Tonight’s opponents Wrexham had been enjoying a tremendous run of form prior to their first visit to Mill Farm that had seem them unbeaten in their ten previous outings.
A single goal defeat on the Fylde Coast put a dent in their formidable record, however they were back in business at the weekend with an impressive 1-0 win away at hotshots Dagenham and Redbridge. A 93rd minute own goal put Wrexham up into third in the National League standings.
