AFC Fylde make their first away trip in the National League tomorrow evening to take on Chester.
The Coasters kicked off life in the top tier of non-league football with an opening day draw against Boreham Wood.
A spectacular own-goal from Boreham Wood’s Danny Woodards put Fylde ahead after just 16 minutes however headers from Ricky Shakes and Kane Smith either side of half-time turned the game on its head.
The introduction of debutants Jonny Smith and Henry Jones breathed new life into the contest and the two combined to bring the hosts level.
Jones skipped past his man in the middle of the park before threading an exquisite ball through to Smith, who took the ball wide before smashing a sublime strike across goal and into the far corner of the net.
The result sees the Coasters sit in seventh place in the table after just one game. Click here for the full National League standings.
Seven new faces made their first competitive appearances for the club. Former Kidderminster trio Josh Ezewele, Jordan Tunnicliffe and Zaine-Francis Angol lined up along the back, Lewis Montrose started in the middle whilst Jack Muldoon played on the right of a front three. Jones and Smith both made their bow from the bench.
Manager Dave Challinor has no fresh injury concerns ahead of tomorrow evening’s trip to the Swansway Chester Stadium.
Chester have enjoyed an extended break after their opening game at Solihull Moors was postponed due to safety requirements at the stadium.
The Blues narrowly avoided relegation by two points last season, finishing in 19th place in the National League table.
Chester, managed by Jon McCarthy, have had a busy pre-season having faced eight warm-up matches. They recorded four victories, two draws and two defeats, completing their schedule with a 1-1 draw against Port Vale.
