Santa Claus is usually the guest of honour at any festive party, but there was an extra special guest at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation annual Children’s Christmas Party.
Foundation Ambassador and local boxing champion, Scott Cardle, was a knockout hit when he surprised youngsters at the fun-filled event.
The popular sporting star visited the party to wish the children a Merry Christmas, but also took the time to answer all the children’s questions about life as a boxer, both in and out of the ring.
Scott then took part in a lively game of dodgeball with the excited children against AFC Fylde mascot Syd the Seagull and Santa – an unusual team line up if ever there was one!
As well as Scott, Santa and Syd’s visit to the party, the children were each presented with Christmas gifts to help get them in the festive spirit and make their day even more memorable.
Almost 40 delighted children attended this year’s party and all of them enjoyed a day jam-packed with festive fun and surprises. They took part in a range of Christmas themed sport and physical activity sessions, watched Christmas movies and enjoyed plenty of meet and greets with the three extra special guests.
Foundation Director Tom Hutton believes the Annual Children’s Christmas party has an important part to play in the Foundation’s role within the community. He said: “The Christmas party is something that not only the children look forward to, but everyone at the Foundation also does every year. It’s a great opportunity for the Foundation to deliver another success before the new year begins.”
