Local lad George Bottomley enjoyed the experience of a lifetime at the weekend thanks to a brilliant birthday gift from his family!
George, who lives on the Fylde Coast, spent his tenth birthday at Mill Farm for AFC Fylde’s FA Trophy match against Brackley Town, enjoying his special day as the official team mascot!
His day got off to a flying start when he was presented with a brand new AFC Fylde home kit. He was then one of the privileged few on the pitch prior to the game to take part in multiple football activities including passing and penalties to get the crowd warmed up for the big game.
Alongside the pre-game activities, George was also given the opportunity to join the players in the dressing room and get his matchday programme signed. But the highlight of the day – apart from coming face to face with Syd the Seagull! – was leading the teams out and having his photograph taken with the captains and officials just before the whistle blew for kick-off!
Foundation Director Tom Hutton said: “The mascot package is a brilliant experience. It was great sharing George’s birthday with him and it was really rewarding for everyone at the Foundation to see how much he enjoyed it”.
