The Coasters are back in action on Tuesday lunchtime, as we travel to face Wigan Athletic U23s in our first pre-season friendly. 

 

Jim Bentley’s side will be able to feature multiple new-look faces within the squad following the arrivals of Nathan Pond, Chris Neal, David Perkins, Luke Burgess, Ben Tollitt and Junior Mondal. Further to the six summer signings, Sheldon Green and James Stanley will be looking to impress after signing new contracts following their step up from the academy. 

It’s not just on the pitch that there will be fresh faces. Bentley’s coaching staff has changed, most notably with Assistant Manager, Nick Chadwick being his new right-hand-man. ‘Chaddy’ will return to face familiar opposition after he came to Mill Farm from Wigan Athletic. Alongside the new staff in the dugout will be player turned coach, Andy Taylor, Joe Potts [Goalkeeper Coach] and Gareth Thomas [Head of Medical].

We’re delighted to be back out on the pitch following a long summer, but also disappointed that we won’t be able to bring our loyal fanbase with us. We will be sure to keep our social media channels and website updated throughout the game and provide highlights after the match.

The game is being played at Wigan Athletic’s training ground and kick-off is at 1pm.
