AFC Fylde loanee Macauley Wilson admits he is loving life with the Coasters.
The young full-back joined the club from Blackpool last month and has impressed after being thrust straight into Dave Challinor’s starting line-up.
Wilson’s loan deal expires midway through December but he hopes to extend his stay with the National League North leaders.
Wilson said: “Since I’ve joined the group, I’ve really enjoyed it. They’re a great set of lads and they’ve welcomed me in so I’ve enjoyed it very much so far.
“When I got told I had interest from AFC Fylde, I was really pleased because I’m from Lytham so it’s a local club that are doing very well. I’ve been to a few Fylde games in the past and I knew that they played good football and they’re doing all the right things. I’ve come to the best place possible in my eyes really to help my development.
“My loan finishes on the 17th December but hopefully I can extend that. Like I say, I’ve really enjoyed it here and I don’t see why I can’t come back and maybe stay until the end of the season. That’s not down to me though, it’s down to Blackpool and Fylde so we will have to wait and see.”
The Fylde faithful have warmed to the youngster following some committed displays and Wilson admits he isn’t one to shirk a tackle.
“Since I’ve been a young lad, I’ve always loved a tackle but there are other sides to my game that I enjoy. Tackling however is one of my main attributes. I really enjoy the physical side of the game, tackling and heading and stuff like that.”
Although Wilson is cup-tied for this weekend’s FA Trophy visit from Brackley Town, the defender has been delighted with the league form of his side and the performances of one man in particular.
“Everyone is buzzing to be seven points clear at the top of the league. Everyone’s happy and we just hope that we can carry on our good form and take it on further.
“It is frustrating to be cup-tied for the FA Trophy, but I’ve played in the competition already for Bamber Bridge in the earlier stages. I just want to play every game possible and I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to play on Saturday with the lads because I love being out there on the pitch.
“We have goals through the team, but honestly, Danny Rowe is brilliant. He’s a natural finisher and I’m not surprised one bit that he has reached 100 goals for Fylde in such a quick time because his finishing is unreal.”
