Fylde Ladies have pulled up a major transfer coup with the signing of Huddersfield Town striker Emily Heckler.
The prolific centre-forward bagged an incredible 44 goals in just 29 appearances last season and manager Luke Swindlehurst was delighted at the capture of the league’s top scorer.
“It’s a fantastic signing for us and one I’m very proud of. I’ve been in regular contact with Emily and it’s great news we have managed to bring her into the squad at the beginning of pre-season.
“Emily has got plenty of time to get fully integrated into the team before the season starts and we can work on a number of different options from an attacking point of view. She is a proven goal scorer and is the right kind of character as well, a winner and very passionate with bags of experience, which is invaluable. “
Heckler said: “I’m really looking forward to the new season and fresh challenge with Fylde. I’ve been really impressed with the plans for the future and having spoken to the manager I’m confident we will have a good season ahead of us. I will be working very hard with the rest of the girls to make sure we are fully prepared for the first game in August.”
Heckler made the perfect start to life at the club with a goal in their opening friendly game of pre-season on Sunday. Fylde ran out 4-1 winners against Guiseley Vixens with further goals from Danielle Young, Laura Walker and Hannah Forster.
