AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor couldn’t hide his delight following the comeback victory over promotion rivals Harrogate Town.

Second-half goals from Sam Finley and James Hardy cancelled out Tom Platt’s opener as the Coasters stretched their incredible unbeaten start to the National League North campaign to 15 games.

Challinor said: “I’m really pleased. We’ve again shown great character to come from behind and we were pretty comfortable in the end. The danger of going 2-1 in front is that there can be a tendency to sit back a bit. In fairness, they changed their shape two or three times during the game.

“At some points it suited us and at some points we had to be a little bit different. We’ve shown our adaptability in the fact that we’ve had to tinker with our system a little bit to cause them problems.

“Sometimes you make changes that work and sometimes they don’t, but making a tactical change at half-time really worked. Dan Bradley’s willingness to run in behind has changed the game for us. If one person runs in behind, all of a sudden everyone’s doing it.

“Second half, we were a real threat beyond them which stretched the game and I thought we thoroughly deserved to win.

“We’ve worked on people making unselfish runs and once Bradley came on and started doing it, other people bought into it too. We saw out the game really professionally.”
