AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor believes the signs are good after his side held Championship new boys Bolton Wanderers to a goalless draw at Mill Farm.
Both sides had chances to nick the win at the death in an entertaining encounter and Challinor admits it was good to see two teams going at it during pre-season.
“There were good signs and some things that I wasn’t happy with that we need to improve on quickly but in general it was another good work out.
“Sometimes you can get ahead of yourself and not realise the quality of the opposition that you are coming up against because they are a very strong side.
“It was an entertaining 0-0 and both sides had chances. It wasn’t a game that was just played out for the sake of it.
“There were lots of positives to take into a very important weekend of training for us and we look forward to the game next week against Morecambe.
“We changed our shape toward the end of the game to have a bit of a go. That opened the game up and we could have nicked it, but so could they.
“I knew they would be strong and organised and that was the case. I spoke to their manager before and they are still a work in progress but we are in a similar position.
“It would have been nice to score but I don’t think there will be many occasions this season where we go two games without finding the back of the net!”
