AFC Fylde were eliminated from the FA Trophy Third Round on penalties after Nick Haughton forced a draw following Jack Bearne’s first-half goal.

Bearne gave the visitors the lead when he fired in from outside the area to send his side in at the interval a goal to the good.

In a second half dominated by the Coasters, Haughton popped up and curled right-footed into the right corner of the net following Luke Burke’s cross into the danger zone to force the game into penalties, from which Kidderminster.

Adam Murray made four changes to the side that secured victory over Gloucester City in the Coasters’ last fixture, with Luke Burke, Jordan Cranston, Will Hatfield and Keenan Patten replacing Connor Barrett, Luke Conlan, Curtis Weston and Joe Rowley.

Following an even start to the tie in the Fourth meeting between the two sides already this season, it was the Coasters who almost found the opener

After Pierce Bird’s drilled pass through the middle third found Keenan Patten on the half-turn, the midfielder drove at goal and slid Luke Burke inside the area, whose strike at goal rippled the side netting.

However, the visitors grew into the game and threatened the Coasters’ goal when a ball to the back post found Jack Bearne at the back post but again, the side netting was hit after Chris Neal narrowed the angle.

The Harriers wide man fancied his chances again when he lined an effort up from outside the effort, which proved the right decision when finding the bottom right corner to give the visitors a lead.

After Zak Brown’s powerful effort at goal was parried over by Neal, the Coasters started to create more chances of their own towards the end of the half.

Nick Haughton whipped a corner to the back post, where Keenan Patten managed to leap and head back into the mix and towards Will Hatfield, whose fizzed volley deflected off a blue shirt and away from goal.

Hatfield was involved again moments later when he travelled into the area and was able to squeeze a pass to Patten on the penalty spot, but his timid effort was gathered by Palmer.

There wasn’t much to write home about following the restart, but the one moment that stuck in everyone’s mind was Haughton almost drawing the Coasters level.

Alex Whitmore, on his 100^th appearance for the Club, sprayed a lovely ball out wide to Haughton, and when he took it down nicely to burst into the area, he rattled the underside of the bar and saw the ball bounce away.

Fylde were pressing on, and the ball was in the back of the net after Siya Ligendza’s cross bounced past Tom Palmer and into the bottom corner, but the linesman’s flag was up for offside against an interfering Luke Charman.

But that didn’t matter as the Coasters drew level through Nick Haughton, who pounced on the opportunity to curl home into the bottom right corner after Luke Burke’s cross into Luke Charman fell to the midfielder just inside the 18-yard box.

Adam Murray’s men were better value for money in the second half, and there was almost a second of the game for Haughton and Fylde after Danny Philliskirk waited for the number 10 to arrive to square right, though Palmer was out quick to deny him with an outstretched leg in the final moments.
