AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor was pleased that side maintained their 100% record to the new year with a 4-0 victory over Skelmersdale United.
The Coasters eased into the next round of the FA Trophy with another resounding victory following victories over Chorley and Gainsborough Trinity so far this year.
“I’m very pleased to get the game won. We have enjoyed a very good start to the year and haven’t even conceded a goal yet. The result possibly makes the game look more comfortable than it was. If I’m honest I thought we could have done more first half and the way we were playing I wouldn’t have been surprised if we had let Skem back into the game. We were a bit too open, but when we got playing we set up some really good opportunities and got our just desserts in the end.
“Both teams are good footballing sides and like to get the ball down and play. We were slightly careless in possession at times and on another day that can come back to haunt you as it did in the original tie.
“Once we got the second and third goals it knocked the stuffing out of Skem and we saw the game out quite comfortably in the end. We are particularly delighted to keep a clean sheet and to score four goals in the process was great.
“Danny Rowe is flying at the moment with his goalscoring, but we need others to start pitching in too.
“We enjoyed a great facility at the AJ Bell Stadium. The stadium and the pitch were in fantastic condition and we are just relieved to get the game played and more importantly won.
“We have now given ourselves the best possible chance to go and win on Saturday in Eastbourne. We are potentially now just four wins from a Wembley final.”
