As a club we pride ourselves on giving supporters – both home and away – the best possible experience when they visit Mill Farm and it’s always nice receive some positive feedback.
That’s why we thought we would share this kindhearted email from Gloucester City Stadium Announcer and Trust Board Member Charlie Hughes with you…
I felt that after my experience visiting your new stadium yesterday I should email the club.
Coming up from Gloucester to Fylde is – as you know – a very long journey and one that I was looking forward to. I was keen to see your new stadium as from the photos, it looks incredibly impressive. Secondly, on my only other trip to Fylde (where we were on the wrong end of an entertaining 6-4 defeat) I was struck by the warm welcome we received from your fans.
Yesterday was no disappointment. Never have I been made to feel more welcome inside any football ground. Myself and two other Gloucester supporters entered Bradleys Sports Bar (again, it’s lovely in there) and a supporter of yours (Malcolm Watson) came over to us and offered us seats over with your Supporters Club.
This is something I have not before experienced and the hospitality shown not only before the match, but also during and again after the game has shown the true nature of non-league football and I hope we are able to replicate this special welcome in the return fixture.
The isolated incident that happened during the game was highly unsavoury, and to our knowledge, these were “supporters” of Huddersfield. But this didn’t dent the incredible welcome from your fans.
Thank you for yesterday and good luck for the season.
