AFC Fylde have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with Kepak, and fully support the launch of their new apprenticeship programme, which offers fantastic opportunities for the young people in the local community.

Kepak’s UK L&D Manager, Jayne Mizon said: “The idea of launching our own apprenticeship programme came from our desire to reinvest in the local community after a really challenging couple of years. The programme enables us to support people in work and provide a pathway for young, local talent in the food industry.

“We can offer an entry-level role, where apprentices will gain a level 2 qualification over the course of a 12-month programme. The initiative has been designed to give individuals exposure to all the different areas of the business, with three days based in production and two days in the classroom or other departments.

“We go above and beyond to offer a broad experience, so that the individual is able to decide what they enjoy at the end of the apprenticeship, whether that be in production, warehouse or the quality department, and decide what path they would like to go down. There is even potential for our apprentices to take a people management role in the longer-term future.

“Developing our people from within is something that we are passionate about, and we have had some great examples where employees have begun their journey in production and progressed into Technical,Supply Chain, Health and Safety and management roles within the company.

“The scheme is open to anyone aged 16 or over and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Whether you are out of work due to the effects of Covid-19, just left school or still deciding what career is right for you, this apprenticeship will offer you a pathway in a stable, growing industry.
