AFC Fylde’s Development Squad head into a massive game at Eccleshill this evening (Friday, 25th) knowing that at least a draw will be enough to seal the Lancashire League West Division title with a game to spare.
Development Squad Manager, Andy Pilkington, said in mid-week: “We sit at the top of the table on 47 points and require one more point from our remaining two games to secure it. That said, Stalybridge Celtic could still beat us to it mathematically so we won’t be popping any champagne just yet!”
If they happen to lose this evening, their final game of the season is on Tuesday, 6th May, at Kellamergh Park against Stalybridge. So providing they have won all their games in hand they could come to KP with the hope of claiming the title themselves.
However, if they can get the point this evening then the trophy will be awarded to the Development Squad after that game, and after what will have hopefully been an even more successful season for the First Team, what better way to come and enjoy that by seeing the younger members of the squad lifting their own piece of silverware!
Kick off on Monday, 6th May, is 7:45pm.
