We would like to provide supporters with an update on Mark Cullen after the striker was stretchered off in our 2-0 victory over Bradford Park Avenue.
In the early stages of Saturday’s fixture against the Green Army, Mark challenged in the air for the ball, which saw him unfortunately land awkwardly, resulting in serious injury.
Mark was taken to hospital after leaving the field for a precautionary X-ray before undergoing further scans earlier this week.
Results have shown that Cullen has suffered a multi-ligament injury, including a ruptured ACL. The injury will be reviewed by the surgeon later this week, but Mark will likely require surgery which will keep him out of action for a lengthy period.
On the injury, Head of Medical Gareth Thomas said: “It’s very unfortunate for Mark having only just arrived at the Club. It’s never nice to see a player leave on a stretcher, but he’s in good spirits and is in a positive mood.
“Going forward, Mark will see the surgeon later on this week, and he will most likely require surgery, which will keep him out of action long-term.”
All at AFC Fylde wish Mark all the best in his recovery.
