AFC Fylde captain Harry Davis says the Coasters side’s togetherness has been a key factor in the winning run which has seen them win six out of their last seven Vanarama National League games.
The Coasters’ emphatic 5-0 triumph away at play-off hopefuls Aldershot Town on Tuesday extended the outstanding form since the turn of the New Year, as Chris Beech’s men have collected 19 points from a possible 21 available.
Josh Kay’s double, alongside goals from Jon Ustabasi, Nick Haughton and Joe Westley made it a trip to remember down in Hampshire.
Three consecutive away wins at Dorking Wanderers, Eastleigh and Aldershot have seen the Coasters climb the table ahead of Saturday’s visit of third-placed Barnet to Mill Farm.
Fylde’s home form has been excellent as well, having secured recent Mill Farm victories over Rochdale, Hartlepool United and Bromley.
And Davis was delighted with the three points and another clean sheet for goalkeeper Theo Richardson and the defence.
Davis said: “I think that result has been coming and we’re looking like a real good side after three away games and three great away wins that we’re looking a strong unit, I think that’s been coming and we were really clinical, it’s coming to the business time now, we’re on a really good run, we’ll have to keep our feet grounded and move onto the next one on Saturday, which will be another tough game against Barnet.
“At the start of the season, we were on the wrong end of some results, we’re a young team so we’ve been right on point but overall, in the second-half, that’s probably the best we’ve seen out a game and we saw it out really well.
“We’ve got a great group here, really honest bunch of lads, and the togetherness has really grown since Beechy has come in, the fight and the togetherness that we show every week, and we have 11 lads plus the subs who come on, who will give everything.
“We’re on a really good run, coming to the business time and we’ll enjoy it, coming away to a team in the play-offs who only lost two at home before, and winning 5-0, it was an excellent night.”
Centre-back Davis praised the fantastic backing from the Coasters supporters in the three away victories.
He added: “The fans have been brilliant, to have three away games on the spin, Dorking, Eastleigh and Aldershot, to win all three and have the support for the lads, we’ve thanked them for it, it’s great that we gave them three away wins.
“We’ll keep fighting until the end of the season and see where it takes us.”
