One year on, the Development Centre run by AFC Fylde Community Foundation continues to be an outstanding success with local youngsters.

Open to children between 3-12 years old, the Football Development Centre provides a positive, fun and challenging learning environment for boys and girls of varying abilities, supporting them to develop and grow their love of the game.

All the sessions are delivered by FA / UEFA qualified coaches through game related practices. Individual, group and team challenges encourage players to improve their technique, individuality, communication skills, physicality, decision making and tactical understanding of the sport.

The Football Development sessions are incredibly popular with an ever-increasing number of children attending. Now the Foundation wants to build on that success by encouraging more local youngsters to get involved.

The sessions take place at the impressive Fylde Sports and Education Centre every Tuesday evening. The first session specifically geared towards 3-6-year-olds is held between 5pm -5.45pm. This is followed at 6pm by a one-hour session for 7-12-year-olds.

Anyone who would like to get involved in the sessions should contact AFC Fylde Community Foundation Football Development Lead, Dan Cookson on 01772 598855 or by email at: [email protected]

Dan Cookson is proud of the success the centre is enjoying. He said:

“The Football Development Centre is a fantastic initiative. It provides children with a safe environment where they can progress and develop their football ability and knowledge while meeting new friends and having fun.

“Some of the children arrive feeling unsure but, because it’s such a supportive, positive place, leave feeling full of confidence. The sessions are growing week-on-week and my plan is to make them even bigger and better.”
