Jorome Slew has been a Coasters player for several weeks now after joining from Hampton & Richmond borough on a one-month loan deal.
Since arriving, Slew has featured in every matchday squad, got a full 90 minutes under his belt in Tuesday night’s game against Darlington FC, and he has enjoyed life on the Fylde Coast so far.
“I’m buzzing to be here. When the opportunity came up here, I couldn’t wait to take it. It’s a big club that plays good football, so I’m glad to be here.”
It didn’t take a lot of persuasion for Slew to make the move, especially after he had done his research on the Coasters.
“It was the first image that made just made me think ‘wow’. When I typed the stadium in online, and I saw it, I knew it was the right environment that would suit me as a player.
“Also, looking at the Club’s history and the journey it’s been on, it’s something that can help me excel, and knowing how the gaffer works and where some of the boys have come from, it is a good environment for me.”
With Jorome’s loan only for one month, he sees the opportunity as a big one to impress and possibly extend his stay for longer.
“This is a massive opportunity for me to impress and hopefully stay here for longer. It’s somewhere that is close to home, closer to friends and family.
“If I can train every day and be around these players, it’s only going to help me progress.”
The past few weeks have been a bit of whirlwind for him, something Slew has had to get his head around quickly, but he admits it’s been an enjoyable time.
“My first week was a bit of a blur, especially the day I signed, but since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself.
“The football the boys play for this level is unbelievable – anyone can see they deserve to be playing higher.”
“Everyone has been very welcoming. I’ve moved into the house with some of the players, the staff have been good to me, and everything just seems right, so I’m enjoying it.”
Slew reserved a special mention for the Coasters supporters and says he can’t wait to grab his first goal in front of them.
“I’m loving playing in front of these supporters. They’ve been great since I came to the Club, and they’ve backed us all the way – I can’t wait to hopefully get my first goal in front of them.”
