Experienced ‘keeper arrives on loan from Rochdale.

AFC Fylde is pleased to announce the signing of 32-year-old goalkeeper Josh Lillis, on a loan deal from Sky Bet League One side Rochdale until the end of the season.

Lillis is a ‘keeper that is full of experience, having amassed well over 350  league appearances throughout his 16 year career, to date.

He joined Rochdale initially on loan in 2009, before making a permanent switch to Spotland in 2012 and has made the majority of his 350+ league appearances with the Dale.

Arriving at Mill Farm until the end of the season, Lillis brings in experience and knowledge as the Coasters look to have a strong end to the season and climb the table.

Upon joining the club, Lillis said: “It was an opportunity that arose quite quickly, I spoke to the Manager Jim Bentley, who I know as he’s good friends with my father. It’s the right fit for me. I like to think that my experience will benefit the club, I’ll try my utmost to get amongst the lads and help them, use all my experience to help and push them the right way and hopefully we can get out of this together.”

Jim Bentley told afcfylde.co.uk: “Josh is experienced, he’s played at a higher level and is a good all round goalkeeper. I am sure he can do well for us, I know his Dad really well, he was my assistant manager at Morecambe for a number of years. His Dad was a professional and you can see that’s been passed to Josh, he’s a really good pro and I am sure he can do well for us.”
