AFC Fylde Community Foundation is now in its third year of running the innovative ‘Train Like A Pro’ programme, and it shows no sign of slowing down.

The junior training scheme, supported by Cuadrilla and Spirit Energy, offers local grassroots teams an exciting week of activities – free of charge – courtesy of the Foundation’s partnership work.

The children train full time at Mill Farm Sports Village with highly qualified coaches; learn about the importance of healthy eating; discuss injury prevention; and, this week, even enjoyed an exclusive Q&A opportunity.

Players from Kirkham Juniors were given the chance to meet the AFC Fylde first team and take part in a unique question and answer session, where they picked the minds of their heroes to find out what they can do to emulate them.

The young hopefuls also managed to get their shirts signed and have photos with their favourite players to make it an experience to remember.

Foundation Director Tom Hutton is delighted with the success of the ‘Train Like A Pro’ programme and the positive start the first two weeks of the new season has enjoyed.

He said: “‘Train Like A Pro’ is something we look forward to all year round. It’s a unique programme in which the children can really experience first-hand, and for the first time, the life of a professional footballer during their time with us.

“I’m delighted our hard work pays off and the children continue to enjoy the programme. I’m very excited to see the new teams come in over the summer.”
