AFC Fylde are delighted to announce the signing of winger Luke Brennan on a one-year deal following a successful trial period with the club.
The winger has been in and around the pre-season preparations for a number of weeks and following numerous impressive features during friendlies, the winger has committed to a contract at Mill Farm.
It’s familiar territory for Brennan who had a brief spell on loan with the Coasters back in 2020, but was recalled just a couple of months later by parent club Blackburn Rovers.
The 22-year-old scored a brilliant curling effort in our opening friendly against Lancaster City, before setting up a goal against Curzon Ashton last week.
After coming through the ranks at Blackburn, Brennan would later join Wigan Athletics’ under 23’s before going out on loan to Welsh Premier League side; The New Saints.
But now looking to set down some roots, Brennan was delighted to be joining the club on a permanent basis:
He said: “I’m delighted now it’s all sorted and finalised. It’s good to get the deal done and now I can just focus on my football.
“All the lads made me feel really welcome as soon as I came into the building. The message was to just be myself and go produce on the pitch and in training.
“I just want to play first team football, week in, week out and focus on scoring and assisting for the team.”
Head Coach Chris Beech also added: “We’ve had Luke in the building for a number of weeks and have been really impressed. He’s come in with an opportunity to work hard and show what he can do and he’s done just that.
“He gives our attacking style a different dynamic, and you can see in the games he’s played exactly what he’s about. He wants to run at defenders, take them on and put teams on the back foot. Sometimes you need an outlet option and Luke has that ability to allow us to reset in games and get us moving back up the pitch.
“He asked to join in at our off-season development programme. His humble attitude and technical capabilities really impressed me and he endeared himself to me. I’ve watched Luke for a number of years at both Blackburn and Wigan and this is a deal that works for both parties to see where it can go.
“He’s impressed us all in training and in games and I’m sure when his opportunities come over the next 12 months, he’ll prove to be a great addition to the squad.”
Everyone at the club is delighted to welcome Luke to AFC Fylde and wishes him all the best ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
