This Sunday sees AFC Fylde Women return to Kellamergh Park for the first time in three weeks as they host Cheadle Town Stingers in the FAWNL Division One North.

This fixture takes place on Sunday 17th November, with kick-off at 2.00 pm.

It promises to be a special occasion on what will be Marc Joyce’s first home game in charge of the Coasters since his arrival earlier this month.

What is more, Fylde’s league clash with Dylan Wimbury’s Stingers comes only a fortnight after the two sides faced off in the First Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

On that occasion, the Coasters put in a strong performance and were unlucky not to have gone ahead in the first half. After an improved second-half display, Cheadle eventually prevailed as Imogen Porteous-Williams scored two headed goals to help the hosts on their way to a 2-0 win at Park Road.

Two weeks on from that Cup tie, the Coasters are preparing for another tough test against the Stingers, who continue to impress after getting their season off to a flying start. To date, Cheadle have claimed six wins out of ten league games and currently sit second in a tightly packed top end of the table.

The Stingers head into this Sunday’s game off the back of a goalless draw at home to Huddersfield Town Women. Despite creating some promising chances in front of goal, Cheadle had to settle for a share of the spoils against the Terriers.

As for the Coasters, it proved to be a difficult day at the office last Sunday after they suffered a 4-0 loss away to Durham Cestria. The final scoreline was not a fair reflection of Fylde’s overall display, especially given the number of chances that they created in the final third.

Durham Cestria made a blistering start as they raced into an early two-goal lead, before adding a third from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time. Although Fylde competed well in the second period, the hosts went on to extend their lead in the closing stages to wrap up the win.

Amidst a busy fixture schedule, the Coasters cannot dwell on that disappointment as they quickly have the chance to put things right this weekend. And after a positive week on the training ground, Joyce’s team will be ready for their next outing when they entertain the Stingers this Sunday.
