AFC Fylde Women hit the road again on Sunday when they travel to play Stoke City FC Women at Emerys Stadium in Norton.

This rearranged fixture takes place on Sunday 18th February, with kick-off at 2.00 pm.

After the original fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch in early November, the Coasters head to the Norton Sports Club in Staffordshire for their first meeting with the Potters this campaign.

Fylde’s Joint Managers Jake Williams and Steve Mainwaring are targeting a positive result this weekend following a difficult run of form in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.

Last time out, the Coasters were unable to avoid a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Liverpool Feds WFC at Jericho Lane in Aigburth.

In the first half, Fylde struggled to gain a foothold in the contest as the Feds established a two-goal through Chantelle Thompson and Aleesha Collins.

In an improved second-half showing, the Coasters pulled a goal back when Sasha Rowe scored from the penalty spot. Fylde went in search of a late equaliser, but the Feds held firm to seal a 2-1 victory.

As for their next opponents, Stoke City Women have an impressive record at home this season, having recorded six wins from nine home games in all competitions. The Potters currently sit seventh in the table, with 17 points from 12 games played.

Stoke City’s Head Coach Marie Hourihan was pleased with her team’s emphatic 4-1 win at home to Stourbridge Women last weekend. Hourihan now wants her side to replicate that level of performance in the remainder of the season.

In spite of the challenge that awaits them, the Coasters will be looking to tear up the form book this Sunday as they go in search of their first points of the new year.
